Clarkston Boys Varsity Cross Country finished last week taking first place at Hanson’s Invitational on Saturday.
Junior Bryce Nowik led the team as they finished with 70 points for the top spot out of 34 teams. Nowik finished in fifth place in the race in the time of 15:56.1. The top five runners for the boys team included senior Henry Poploskie in sixth place, 16:11.7; sophomore Jaxson Nowik, 12th, 16:29.2; junior Andrew Floros, 15th, 16:37.5; and sophomore Joshua Ellingsworth, 31st, 17:13.6.
The top ten teams also included Oxford in second place with 107 points; Troy, third, 122; Lake Orion, fourth, 144; Walled Lake Northern, fifth, 184; Stoney Creek, sixth, 201; L’Anse Creuse North, seventh, 239; Allen Park, eighth, 248; Troy Athens, ninth, 273; and Detroit U-D Jesuit, tenth, 268.
The girls varsity team finished in fifth place with 143 points out of 27 teams.
Junior Alexandra Brigham led the team finishing in second place in the time of 18:37.6. The top five runners also included freshman Sydney Fischer in 21st place in the time of 19:52.6; senior Rebekah Wilson, 24th, 20:02.5; senior Cate Cotter, 37th, 20:28.9; and freshman Ava Danielson, 42nd, 20:37.5.
The top ten teams also included Oxford in first place with 74 points; Stoney Creek, second, 102; Walled Lake Northern, third, 113; Rochester, fourth, 130; Troy, sixth, 155; Novi, seventh, 160; Bloomfield Hills, eighth, 244; Warren Regina, ninth, 268; and Lake Orion, tenth, 290.
The girls varsity team opened the week taking second place in the second OAA Red Jamboree at Bloomer Park, Sept. 27.
Junior Anna Reineck led the team with a second place finish in the time of 20:54.3. The five top finishers also included sophomore Lily Miles in sixth place in the time of 21:10.2; junior Morgan Poploskie, seventh, 21:14.1; junior Claire Walker, 17th, 22:00.9; and sophomore Lauren Williams, 22nd, 22:37.1.
Rochester Adams finished in first place with 41 points. Clarkston finished in second place with 54 points; Birmingham Seaholm, third, 67; Lake Orion, fourth, 75; Oxford, fifth, 125; and Troy, sixth, 163.
The boys varsity team finished in fifth place at the league jamboree.
Sophomore Cayden DeGrendel led the Wolves with a fourth place finish in the time of 17:28.5. The five top finishers also included sophomore Kent Wilson in 14th place in the time of 18:14.1; sophomore Evan Savoie, 31st, 19:07.3; junior Matthew Anderson, 34th, 19:09.2; and senior Isaac Rucker, 40th, 19:22.4.
Rochester Adams finished in first place with 19 points. Troy finished in second place with 83 points; Lake Orion, third, 86; Oxford, fourth, 112; Clarkston, fifth, 113; and Birmingham Seaholm, sixth, 127.
The teams head to the Oakland County Cross Country Championship on Saturday at Kensington Metropark.
The Wolves host the third and final OAA Jamboree at Clintonwood Park, Oct. 20.
