After not gaining reelection to the Clarkston Community Schools Board of Education in last November’s election, Greg Need is back on the board as a trustee after being appointed by the board on March 22.
Need fills the vacancy left by former board trustee Andrea Catalina, who stepped down earlier this month.
“Mr. Need has proven to be a strong advocate for our students, families and school district for many years, and we are looking forward to once again collaborating with him on the board of education,” said Board President Kelli Horst.
“I am honored that I have been selected to once again serve on the Clarkston Community Schools Board of Education,” added Need. “I look forward to continuing the district’s efforts to ensure all students in our community receive an excellent education.”
Need previously served on the board of education from 2015 through 2022.
His new term is effective immediately and will run through Dec. 31, 2024.
A total of 12 individuals were interviewed in the March 22 public meeting.
“It was wonderful to see how many community members were interested in serving on the board,” said Horst. “All candidates offered something unique and admirable. I hope those not selected will continue to be champions for our school district.”
Need has been a district resident for 30 years, and both of his children are Clarkston High School graduates.
