Two injured in rear end collision

Two drivers were injured in a M-24 rear end collision that occurred around 4:15 p.m. on July 27.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s report, Deputy Mike Schmitzerle was patrolling M-24 north of Drahner Rd. when he observed a white Ford F-150 crash into the rear end of a blue Ford Ranger.
The Oxford Fire Department responded to the scene and treated the drivers of both vehicles for injuries.
The driver of the Ford Ranger, a 21-year-old Davison man, was wearing his seatbelt, but no airbag was deployed. He was listed by officers as having ‘sustained the most severe injury.? He was transported by American Medical response to P.O.H. in Pontiac.
The driver of the F-150, a 66-year-old Lake Orion man, was also listed as wearing his seatbelt. His airbag did deploy, and he was transported by the Oxford Fire Department to St. Joseph Hospital.
The report states that the Lake Orion man told authorities ‘he looked down and was not paying attention.?
No citations were issued to either party and both vehicles were towed by Buckhorn Towing. The report listed the Lake Orion man as being unable to stop in an assured cleared distance.
