Unity Church of Lake Orion (UCLO) welcomed a new Senior Minister, the Rev. Gregory Guice, whose duties began earlier this month with a service entitled ‘A Vision for a New Beginning.?
The appointment of Rev. Guice came after an exhaustive one-year search, according to Gail Ingoglia, president of the board of directors.
‘We have all prayed for the perfect minister to lead our church forward, and we feel our prayers have been answered,? Ingoglia said, citing Guice’s experience, achievement and commitment to community.
Guice, 55, has a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Center for Humanistic Studies in Detroit. He has been an ordained Unity Minister for seven years and currently serves on the Board of Directors at Unity Institute in Kansas City.
He has also worked at various teaching levels in the Detroit Catholic School System and the Detroit Public Schools.
After accepting the position at UCLO, Guice said he was ‘anxious to get out into the community and become active in local civic organizations.?
He served previously as Senior Minister at Unity Christ Church in Fort Wayne, IN, from 2000-2005, prior to returning to the Detroit area.
In July of 2005, Guice joined Detroit Unity Temple as Co-Minister and was instrumental in expanding the work of the Holistic Development Community Center in the Palmer Park community, forming ‘P4: a Positive Presence for Palmer Park.?
Guice has been married to his wife, Francine, for three years and has three grown children. The Guice family currently lives in Farmington Hills.
‘My quest for Unity Church of Lake Orion is to create an energy of love and spirituality that brings people together in the spirit of unity? open to their highest good,? Guice said.
Orion Township residents Wes and Pat Fuelling founded UCLO in 1997. The congregation moved to their current building at 3070 Baldwin Road in 1999.
Upcoming messages from Rev. Guice include ‘Overcoming Your Goliath? on Feb. 24, ‘Strengthening the Christ Within You? on March 2 and ‘The Power of Prayer? on March 9.
