Life on the course was not easy this past week for Oxford’s varsity women’s golf team – the girls finished second in the Flint Metro League Tournament and lost the Fieldstone Tournament.
At the Flint Metro Tournament, Oxford finished second to Linden with 449. Those placing for Oxford were Jacqui Grace with 107, which was also the fifth highest score for the day overall; Kate Hubbard with 112; Karen Offer with 113; and Beth Hubbard with 117. The team’s other two golfers for the day were Emily Jacobsen with 122 and Jackie Maher with 125.
Placing for Oxford at the Fieldstone Tournament were Kate Hubbard with 100, Grace with 101, Beth Hubbard with 109 and Jackie Maher with 110 for a team total of 420. Oxford’s fifth golfer for the day was Karen Offer with 115.
‘They had some of the best teams in the state there,? said parent Bob Hubbard.
The team turned things around though on Tuesday by defeating Lapeer East 214-255. Placing for Oxford were Kate Hubbard with 47, Kareon Offer with 55, Jackie Maher with 56 and Jacqui Grace with 56.
The Lady Cats take to the course again today (Wednesday) at 2:45 p.m. against Avondale with an overall 4-2 record.
