So, why did the kitty-cat dare to cross M-24?
Well, if it was Oxford Village Police Chief Mike Neymanowski’s feline, he was probably just trying to get back home ? and didn’t remember that the family had moved just a few days before.
Over the December holidays, Chief Neymanowski and his family moved from their Pontiac St. home to the Oxford Lakes area. Along with their possessions, the family also took six cats.
“We let (Fuzz) out on New Year’s Eve after the move and he didn’t come back,” said the police chief. “We were looking all over for that cat.”
Ten days later the family was moving some more boxes from their Pontiac St. home when Neymanowski’s wife heard noises at the front door. The two homes are about a mile and a half apart.
“He just showed up at the old house,” said Neymanowski. “Lucky cat – he had to cross M-24, go through some woods and everything.”
And this is one brave kitty who definitely used a few of his nine lives.
“He must have crossed M-24 at night is all I can figure,” said an amazed Neymanowski. “There’s no way he would have survived during regular traffic, much less rush hour.”
The family figures their furry companion must have become lost in the woods while out and his instincts told him how to get home – his old home.
“He’d lived in that house for four years, so I guess he was just a little more in tune with that neighborhood,” said the police chief.
All in all, the orange-colored Fuzz got a happy ending ? he’s home once again with his mom and siblings, said Neymanowski.
“He’s a bit underweight still, but otherwise he’s doing just fine.”
