Lake Orion Community Schools welcomed its new Executive Director of Human Resources at the school board’s August 12 meeting.
Margaret Hazlett will take former-Director Patricia Murray’s place in the position. Murray served less than a year before resigning.
‘I’m really excited to have this opportunity,? Hazlett said. ‘I have a whole lot of people to get to know.?
The outgoing new hiree says she’s met many Lake Orion Community Schools staff and all have told her what a ‘great district? Lake Orion is.
‘It is so impressive to hear that from employees,? said Hazlett.
Originally from Vassar, Hazlett and her husband and daughter live in Waterford. She worked for 13 years in various positions for a non-profit human service agency, spending five of those years developing a human resources (HR) department there.
Most recently, Hazlett worked for Holly-Area Schools developing their HR department. She spent eight years in that position.
‘Because [Lake Orion] is larger and has an established [HR] department, I am going to spend some time seeing how Lake Orion does things,? Hazlett said.
Hazlett holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Oakland University and a Master of Science in human resource management and organizational development from Eastern Michigan University. Hazlett comes to the district after working for many years at the Judson Center in Royal Oak and as the executive director of human resources for Holly Area Schools.
