Charles Elmer Anderson.COLOR obit Charles Anderson Age 87. National City, MI. Passed away July 11, 2016. Born in Flint, MI May 17, 1929 to Edward and Edith (Loyer) Anderson. Was raised in Mikado until moving to Oscoda at age 8. Charles graduated from Oscoda High School (1946) before enlisting in the Army at 17 years and becoming one of the country’s youngest WWII veterans. Upon returning to MI, he met a Bell Girl and made her his wife of over 60 years, Paula Oppenborn. While living in Warren, he attended several years of college at Wayne State University and was a Production Control Engineer for 35 years at Chrysler until his retirement in 1985.  During his career and down-time in Sand Lake, he was an avid thinker and was awarded three U.S. patents. While he made a career in the Motor City, Charles’ heart always belonged to Iosco County; from fishing with his daughter and hunting with his son-in-law to blueberry picking with his granddaughter and enjoying countless community events with his wife in Tawas, Oscoda, and Sand Lake. Together, Charles and Paula enjoyed wintering in Florida and international travels. Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. Survived by wife Paula, son Raymond Anderson (Taos, NM), daughter Nanci Anderson-Bereznicki and son-in-law Rod Bereznicki (Clarkston, MI), granddaughter Dr. Sarah Anderson-Bereznicki (Wendell, NC), and fur-baby Odie. Also survived by countless family and friends including his lifetime best friend of 80 years, William Freund (National City, MI).  He was a huge Detroit Tigers fan and will forever be remembered for his engineering prowess, strong willed debates, passion for traveling, love of dogs and other characteristics that should not be mentioned in public. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., at the Buresh Funeral Home, Oscoda, MI.  A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Buresh Funeral Home, Oscoda, MI. with Father Jeffrey Johnston officiating.  A memorial dinner is planned at the Sand Lake Community Center at 1:00pm following interment at Pioneer Cemetery, Grant Township, MI.  In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Oscoda or Hale, MI VFW or a local Humane Society.
