Clarkston Village Players Youth Theatre has been working for weeks on their musical production of “The Music Man, Jr.,” and they’re ready to hit the stage at Depot Theatre, 4861 White Lake Road.
The show tells the story of a fast-talking salesman whose heart is stolen by the town librarian in River City, in this adaptation of the Tony Award-winning Broadway classic.
Master showman Harold Hill is in town and he’s got “seventy-six trombones” in tow. He cons the people into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize, but he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, whose belief in Harold’s power just might help him succeed in the end in spite of himself.
Performances are July 22-23 and 28-30, 7:30 p.m.; and July 24 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $10. Email cvpyouththeatre@ hotmail.com with name and phone number, performance date, and number of tickets. Ticket Hotline is 248-425-5842.
