Construction break

Drivers will get a break from most county road projects this Labor Day weekend.
“That should help to ensure safe and convenient holiday travel for motorists in Oakland County,” said Road Commission for Oakland County Managing Director Dennis Kolar.
Projects will be suspended at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, until 6 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Railroad work

CN railroad will close a section of Hogback Lake Road to traffic just north of Andersonville Road in Springfield Township, Monday-Friday, Aug. 29-Sept. 2, for emergency railroad crossing repairs.
Access to residential property will be maintained during the closure. All other traffic is advised to use Clark Road and Andersonville Road to get around the closure.

Author for parents

The Special Needs and Parenting Support (S.N.A.P.S.) group at Clarkston United Methodist Church presents author Annie Lehmann., 3-4:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 18, at Clarkston United Methodist Church, 6000 Waldon Road.
Annie is the author of The Accidental Teacher: Life Lessons from My Silent Son. Her eldest son, who is autistic and now a young adult, inspired this memoir. Annie will be sharing her family’s journey with their eldest son. The event is open to all and admission is free.

Neighbor for Neighbor

Residents donated $172 for Neighbor for Neighbor at the Butterfly Festival, Aug. 21, at Shiawassee Basin Preserve in Springfield Township.
The all-volunteer non-profit charitable organization hosts the Treasures and Treats semi-annual rummage and bake sale on Friday-Saturday, Sept. 30-Oct. 1, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Neighbor for Neighbor food pantry in the Hart Community Center in Mill Pond Park, Davisburg. All proceeds will benefit Neighbor for Neighbor programs.
