Taste of Clarkston

Over 30 restaurants will line both sides of Main Street selling samples of their favorite menu items at Taste of Clarkston, Sunday, Oct. 2.
M-15/Main Street will be closed from Waldon Road to Clarkston Road from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. Free parking will be available at Clarkston Elementary, Clarkston Junior High School, Renaissance High School and Clarkston High School. Free shuttle buses run 11:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Visit www.clarkston.org for detour and shuttle maps. The community block party celebration includes Kid Zones areas with activities, games and entertainment. There will be two music stages on Main Street with many local musicians rotating throughout the day.

Road funds from county

Oakland County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously, Aug. 31, to provide $1,820 for local road projects in the City of the Village of Clarkston, Aug. 31.
The resolution was sponsored by Commissioner Thomas F. Middleton.
“This year, we started a local road fund to help local roads in cities and villages – by being a match program, this doubles the amount going into roads,” said Middleton, a Clarkston resident.
The city will provide the other half of the estimated $3,640 program to repair North Holcomb Road, Miller Road, East Washington Road, Buffalo Road and Depot Road.
“The opportunity to leverage the amount of money we have to repair city streets helps us to maintain a higher level of service for our residents,” said City Manager Carol Eberhardt.

Legion fundraiser

American Legion Post 63 hosts its Annual Fall Fundraiser from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Sept. 17, at the post home, 8047 Ortonville Road.
Events include a Classic Car Show, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.; Coin $pin, Darts, Jar Toss, Bean Bag Toss, and other games starting at 12 p.m.; raffle; letters to veterans table; cake walks, food. Raffle tickets are $5 each, five for $20. First prize is $1,000; second, $500; third, $250. Drawing is at 6 p.m.
