Dear Editor,

I cannot believe the letters in the voice of the people. They sound like they are in grade school, picking on people for what they think is said and dwelling on it.
They need to get jobs or do something to keep themselves busy. They just say the same thing over and over. The park is the subject now and then it was the parking problem.
I was born in Clarkston 76 years ago and now the people who have found this wonderful town have taken over or want to take it over. It was a wonderful little town without all of the big shots who are here now! My father was once the mayor.

Quote maker stands by statement

Dear Editor,
In regards to the letter from Steve Percival (“Misattributed quote,” Sept. 14), I openly admit the misattributed quote is mine as noted in Steve’s letter and the correction printed in the “Briefly” section of The Clarkston News.
It is a statement I have made in the past and recently made in an email to several residents, including Steve, after the latest actions by the City Council. It is a statement that is as true now as it was when I made it in the past.
Work continues to be done in the city without any approved plans, without any approved funding, and without council approval.
See page 7 of the Sept. 14 Clarkston News (“Manhole work in Depot Park”) and realize other than approving funds to raise the manholes more than a year after they were buried by the city, there is no record in the city council minutes of this work being discussed, funded, or approved by the council.
In fact, during the budget approval at the end of June, it was stated that no work was required and no funds were allocated. But our city council doesn’t want to talk about that either.
