Holiday Lights Parade

The Clarkston High School Team RUSH Robotics crew hosts the Clarkston Holiday Lights Parade on Dec. 10 at 6 p.m.
Clarkston Schools’ student clubs and organizations are eligible for a $100 special award if they win the Clarkston Schools Pride Award. The theme of this year’s parade is Holidays Moving Through Toyland.
The parade starts at Renaissance High School and ends at St. Daniel’s church. All float entries are to arrive at RHS by 4 p.m. on parade day. Judging will start at 4:45 p.m.

Friday hours at city hall

Clarkston City Council voted 6-0 to approve a request by administration to close the city office at noon on Fridays.
Friday hours are from 9 a.m.-12 p.m., after which residents can use the postal box near the door to drop off payments, ballots, or correspondence, said Clerk Sandy Miller.
“We are all part time and due to staffing difficulties, the staff is requesting to close the office at noon on Fridays,” Miller said in her request.

Giving Tuesday

The Amyloidosis Foundation of Clarkston has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving, Tuesday, Nov. 29.
In 2015, the foundation raised almost $5,000 with 50 donations fueled by social media and collaboration.
“This year our goal is $10,000 and we are trying to gather at least 100 donations,” said Kelly Loush, communication manager. “This annual online event kicks off the charitable season locally and around the world.”
The non-profit organization, located at 7151 N. Main Street, Suite 2, supports research through its annual grant program to raise awareness of the disease within the medical community and the public.
