When growing up, Dr. Rima Jibaly was looking to become a math teacher, but a relative in the medical field steered her in another direction.
“My eyes were opened,” said Jibaly at her Michigan Pediatrics Gastroenterology Center office in the Clarkston Medical Building on Sashabaw Road. “Now I don’t know what else I could be doing.”
The doctor is a board-certified pediatric gastroenterologist, treating digestive issues such as Celiac disease, colitis, Crohn’s Disease, constipation, acid reflux, and ulcers, with patients from babies to college kids.
“Kids can have anything adults can have – they have a lot of stress sometimes,” she said.
She earned her medical degree at the American University of Beirut, completed her residency at the University of Tennessee and fellowship at the State University of New York, and opened her practice in Michigan in 2002.
She’s working on a fellowship in integrative medicine with the University of Arizona, and served as director of Hurley Medical Center pediatric GI and clinical associate professor at MSU.
She started the center in 2004, has been in Clarkston for about a year, with plans to expand her practice.
“I love being in Clarkston. It’s a very nice area,” said Jibaly, who lives in Grand Blanc and also treats patients at Genesys and Hurley hospitals.
