The Clarkston Girls Swim and Dive team concluded their fall season at the MHSAA state championships at Oakland University after placing in the top 16 in three events.
The team of senior Ashleigh Allen, junior Caroline Hughes, sophomores Betsey Walkowiak and Haley VanBuskirk finished in 12th place in the 400-yard freestyle relay event, 3:36.70. They finished in 14th place in the preliminaries on Friday at 3:39.21.
The relay team of freshman Alexis Moon, Allen, Hughes and Walkowiak finished the 200-yard medley relay in 15th place at 1:50.24 after qualifying during preliminaries with a 15th place finish, 1:49.53.
Moon also finished in 15th place in the 100-yard breaststroke event, 1:07.20. She finished in the same place during preliminaries, 1:06.82.
The Wolves qualified in 11 out of 12 events for the meet including three relay events. The third relay team of freshman Evie Dice, junior Rachel Kociba, Walkowiak and VanBuskirk finished preliminaries in 23rd place for the 200-yard freestyle, 1:41.43.
VanBuskirk finished in preliminaries in 17th place in the 200-yard freestyle, 1:54.16; and 18th place in the 100-yard freestyle, 53.26. Hughes finished preliminaries in 17th place in the 100-yard butterfly, 58.41; and 18th place in the 100-yard backstroke, 58.84.
Allen finished preliminaries in 23rd place in the 500-yard freestyle, 5:16.21; and 25th place in the 200-yard IM, 2:12.21.
Sophomore Abby Line finished in 32nd place during diving, scoring 149.80 points.
