Richard James Curtis, age 69 of Metamora, passed away peacefully in the comforts of his home on July 16, 2018. Richard was a lifetime member and past president of the Metamora Lions Club. He earned an associated degree from Ferris State University and loyally served as an MP in the United States Army. Richard loved spending time with his family members; visits with old friends and dinner at Greg’s Restaurant in Metamora. He also enjoyed spending time at the hunt and fish camp at Bear Lake.
Richard is survived by his step-daughter Lynette (Chico) Furneaux; granddaughter Lauren (Josh) Furneaux-Bass; grandson Michael (Stephanie) Furneaux; 3 great grandchildren: Grace Lily, Grayson William and Alayah Lily.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife Linda Curtis in 2015; his parents William & Betty Curtis; and his precious great granddaughter Lily Furneaux in 2010.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 11 AM at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors – Capstick Chapel, 542 Liberty Park Lapeer, MI 48446 with a luncheon immediately following. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Oxford. Friends may visit on Wednesday from 3-8 PM. Memorial donations to Metamora Lions Charities Inc. are appreciated.
