Five times larger than its previous location, the new Clarkston Supercenter at 8665 Dixie Highway gives General RV the opportunity to grow.
“It was 10 pounds of stuff in a five-pound can. Now we have the space to spread our wings,” said Bill Brown, operations manager for the store. “We’ve served the White Lake and Waterford areas for over 30 years and had a great experience there. We had simply outgrown that facility and needed an upgrade. Our employees and customers were patient as we found a new home for the store, and I’d like to thank all of them for their support through the transition.”
With 65 employees from the General RV store in White Lake transferred to Clarkston, the center provides a fully stocked RV supply retail store, 300 new and pre-owned RVs on the lot, 16 service bays, rentals, insurance, and financing.
“We’re still going to be the store where everyone knows your name,” Brown said. “Our employees build great relationships with our customers and treat them like family, and that’s how we’ll continue to do business.”

The 20-acre facility is also the first new building designed to meet Dixie Highway Design Guidelines. Prairie-style architecture, extensive landscaping, and natural stone accents highlight the beauty of the area.
“We worked closely with the Springfield Township Planning Commission as we were building,” said Brown. “With their support, we were able to design a unique and beautiful facility that gives us the capacity to serve many more customers.”
Founded in Michigan in 1962, General RV Center operates 13 Supercenter locations nationwide, with six in Michigan.
“My grandfather founded General RV in Detroit almost 60 years ago. We are proud to share our passion for the RV lifestyle by strengthening our network of dealerships here at home,” said Loren Baidas, president of General RV Center. “The Clarkston Supercenter is just one example of General RV’s commitment to reinvesting in our facilities so we can continue to provide an industry-leading experience for customers and grow the General RV family.”
The Springfield Township center opened on Jan. 28, and is hosting a job fair this week, Feb. 26-27.
“We still need people,” Brown said.
A ribbon cutting and open house is tentatively scheduled for May 22.
