Spring warbler migration and the conservation of natural wildlife habitat will be the featured topics at the monthly meeting of the Clarkston-Area Backyard Birders Club on April 24.
Sue Julian, executive director of North Oakland Headwaters Land Conservancy (NOHLC ), will discuss their work and upcoming projects.
“Sue’s subject is very appropriate for springtime,” says Bob McGowan, founder and president of the Club. “Without NOHLC’s 50 years of visionary forward planning and their preservation, conservation and stewardship of our natural places, we would not have the variety and populations of birds, animals, plants we treasure and enjoy. In our Oakland County areas so rich in rivers, streams, lakes and marshland, NOHLC has been in the forefront of protecting our natural places for decades.”
Also on the agenda is the coming May migration of popular and colorful spring warblers.
There will be a discussion of nearby sites for viewing warblers, as well as locations within an hour or two drive that are regarded nationally as “warbler hot spots.”
The club meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at The Gateway Lifestyle Shops, 7150 N. Main Street. Meetings are free and open to all. Knowledge about birds is not required.
