Rev. Paul J. Undlin was installed as the new pastor at St. Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church and Preschool, 7925 Sashabaw Road, on May 19.
“The Gospel message of Jesus isn’t only about events that happened 2,000 years ago in some other part of the world, it’s relevant and meaningful still today right now in our own lives,” Undlin said. “I’m very excited to be joining the family of faith here at St. Trinity and looking forward to getting to know the community and sharing that great good news of hope and life.”
A Washington native, the pastor received his bachelor of arts in psychology from The University of Washington in 1994. He spent a decade in sales until enrolling at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri.
He spent his vicarage year at Lutheran Senior Services in St. Louis and received his master of divinity degree from the seminary in 2008. He immediately received his first call to Hosanna Tabor Lutheran Church and School in Redford, Mich., and was senior pastor there until his call to St. Trinity, Clarkston earlier this year.
He and his wife Jennifer have three children and are planning to relocate to the Clarkston area over the summer.
St. Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church is a member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod whose congregations accept and preach the Bible-based teachings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three phrases: Grace alone, Faith alone, and Scripture alone.
