The Clinton River Watershed Council (CRWC) invites the community to learn about the Mill Race stream bank restoration project in Deport Park, Friday, Aug. 30, at 12 p.m. at the Clarkston Independence District Library.
CRWC will share details about the restoration, as well as the benefits of native plants. The project was funded by Pure Oakland Water, and completed in partnership with the City of Clarkston and Friends of Depot Park.
To restore 2,400 square feet of the west bank of the Mill Race, which was severely eroded and covered in weeds, volunteers placed 1,500 native plants of 25 different varieties. The plants are intended to provide filtration of stormwater, serve as a wildlife habitat and beautify the area with wildflowers throughout the growing season.
