Clarkston Rotarians and other volunteers will be on Main Street in Clarkston and other township intersections on Friday, Dec. 6, and Saturday, Dec. 7, from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. selling the Clarkston Rotary and Clarkston News published Goodfellows newspaper for donations.
All donations collected this weekend will be spent the following Saturday, Dec. 14, on the Clarkston Rotary’s annual “Shoes for Kids” program. Clarkston school children will be recipients of new shoes, boots, hats and gloves.
This year, more than 350 community service minded volunteers will participate over four days to insure more than 400 Clarkston area school children will be a little warmer and safer for the upcoming winter.
“When you see people in safety vests and Santa hats roaming Clarkston streets carrying newspaper bags please remember to stop and help by donating,” said Clarkston Rotarian Joel DeLong.
Boy Scout and Girl Scout volunteers will also be at Neiman’s Family Market, Clarkston Garden Club’s Greens Sale at Calvary Lutheran Church, Christmas Craft show at Clarkston High School, United Methodist Church’s Christmas Market, and Clarkston Independence District Library Holiday book sale.
Unable to stop, donations can be made by mailing to Clarkston Rotary “Shoes for Kids,” c/o Joel DeLong, 6371 Simler Drive, Clarkston, MI 48346. For more information about the service projects, call DeLong at 248-625-9741.
