Collegiate academic, athletic achievements

Shay Lynn Kostin, of Clarkston, has graduated from the University of Michigan. Shay graduated Cum Laude, and was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Honor’s Society, the only honor society for college and university students of political and social sciences in the United States.
Shay was awarded a scholarship and will start Law School at Cooley Law School in September 2020, hopefully finishing Law School at Georgetown or Howard University in Washington D.C.

Lucas Dishon, of Clarkston, has been named to the Dean’s Honor Roll for the Summer 2020 semester at Lawrence Technological University.
Lucas is majoring in Electrical Engineering.
To be named to the honor roll a student must maintain at least a 3.5 grade point average for the term.
Lawrence Tech is located in Southfield, Mich.

Nathan Hedden, of Clarkston, graduated from Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology with a BS in computational mathematics and an MS in applied and computational mathematics. A virtual celebration was held May 8 at rit.edu/classof2020.

Jacob Burkett, a 2019 Clarkston High School graduate, is one of three Hope College men’s tennis players to earn Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete Distinction for the 2019-20 school year.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student must have a grade point average of at least 3.5, on a 4.0 scale, for the current academic year, and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
Burkett graduated from CHS with honors and was a four-year singles player for the boys varsity tennis team.
Hope is located in Holland, Mich.

Nick Stalworth, a 2017 Clarkston High School graduate, earned the 2020 Thomas Emmet Award from Siena Heights University.
The award goes to the top junior male student-athlete.
Stalworth is a member of the Saints football team. A three-year starter at linebacker, he was an all-conference performer who currently has SHU’s single-season record in tackles. He was also selected as the team’s defensive MVP twice.
Stalworth is a biology major.
His parents are Bryant and Katrina Stalworth.
Siena Heights is located in Adrian, Mich.
