Sending light out into the world is a key concept for Christians this time of year.
It is also the motivation for lighting the Christmas trees in front of Clarkston United Methodist Church.
Senior Pastor Rev. Richard Dake shared the reason for the 50 lit and decorated Christmas trees now in front of the church.
“Instead of decorating the inside of the sanctuary this year, we wanted to share the beauty of Christmas lights with the community,” Dake said.
Members of the congregation adopted these trees and decorated them.
Many are in honor and memory of loved ones.
“Our hope is these lit Christmas trees will be a joyful gift the whole community can enjoy this year,” said Dake.
Some of these trees will be given to families in the community who have need of one. In addition, the church had lights placed on one of the large evergreens near the church.
The community is welcome to drive by through the church parking lot from 5-10 p.m. every night through Christmas and enjoy this gift to the community.
Clarkston United Methodist Church is located at 6600 Waldon Road.
