Residents might notice law enforcement and firefighters converging on DTE Energy Music Theatre next Wednesday morning. It’ll just be a drill, said Independence Township Supervisor Pat Kittle.
“It is just good business to plan for the worst and hope for the best,” Kittle said. “If something really bad happens, it’s comforting to know the Oakland County Sheriff‘s Office and Independence Fire know how to coordinate and best utilize their resources to make sure the residents of this great community are taken care of.”
The training exercise will simulate a coordinated series of terrorist attacks on venues across Oakland County, including DTE, Oct. 2 around 10:30 a.m. The event is being coordinated by the Oakland County Homeland Security Office and will last until approximately 2:30 p.m.
“There will be an increased presence of law enforcement in the area on the training day and we will be bringing out the Sheriff’s Mobile Command Center for the exercise,” noted Independence Township Substation Commander Lt. Larry Perry.
