Athletes of the Week: Top at weekend invite

By two points the Clarkston Boys Varsity Tennis team edged Traverse City Central from winning the Traverse City Invitational.
The boys finished last year as runners up and for their second visit they won the tournament.
Players on the Singles court continued their dominance and swept all four flights with Alex Matisse on Singles No.1; Luke Baylis on Singles No. 2; Jacob Burkett on Singles No. 3; and Franke Piana on Singles No. 4.
Players on the Doubles court showed off their are continuing to improve on their skills and talent and were led by seniors Tristan Greenlee and David Carpenter on Doubles No. 1.
Greenlee and Carpenter won their second consecutive tournament win in Traverse City, which was the first time in the program Doubles No. 1 had won back to back tournaments.

For Doubles, Jason Richards and Charlie Lussenhop were runners up on Doubles No. 2; and Cole Manilla and Ryan Knight were runners up on Doubles No. 3.
The Wolves had valuable wins from Doubles No. 4 and Doubles No. 5.
They also posted a win in the league against Rochester on Aug. 30, 7-2.
On the Single courts: Matisse defeated Santhosh Narayanan, 6-4, 6-1; Baylis defeated Chris Sandler, 6-2, 6-3; Burkett defeated Viraj Lanani, 6-0, 6-0; and Piana defeated Tej Seth, 6-0, 6-0.
For Doubles, Lussenhop and Richards defeated Justin Baker and Yash Kumar, 6-4, 6-3; Knight and Manilla defeated Andrew Kohrman and Meheer Rele, 6-0, 7-5; and Logan Knowlson and Brody Tuomi defeated Ved Majmundar and Pranan Rajaram, 6-3, 6-3.
The Wolves host Birmingham Seaholm this Thursday, 4 p.m. Then, head to Ann Arbor for the Pioneer Invitational on Saturday before going to Birmingham Groves on Tuesday, 4 p.m.
