B&E suspect turns himself in

Oxford Village Police didn’t have to search very hard to find the suspect responsible for two breaking and enterings of establishments in the Village and one in Oxford Township.
Oxford resident Jason Butler, 31, turned himself into police on Wednesday, March 24 and admitted to breaking into the Golden Dragon (32 S. Washington St.), taking money from an Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) group that meets behind the village police station and breaking into Tami’s Grille (1386 S. Lapeer Rd.)
According to Oxford Village Police Chief Mike Neymanowski, Butler cited a guilty conscience as the reason for turning himself in.
After the Golden Dragon closed March 20, Butler forced his way through a rear window and stole around $100 from the cash register.
Earlier that evening, he entered the site where the AA meeting was held through an open side door and took $17 out of a locker sometime after 9 p.m.
Butler then broke into Tami’s Grille the following morning, prying open a back door and taking between $150 and $250 from the cash register.
Butler was charged with two counts of breaking and entering and two counts of larceny from a building, all of which were related to the Golden Dragon and AA. He hasn’t been arraigned regarding the alleged burglary at Tami’s Grille.
Neymanowski said Butler stole the money because he allegedly has a drug problem.
He was arraigned and on both counts and is waiting a preliminary hearing at the 52-3 District Court in Rochester Hills.
He is currently housed in the Oakland County Jail in lieu of posting 10 percent of a $10,000 bond.
