BHS netters finish fourth at Flushing Invite; also defeat Clio

The Blackhawks gave a good accounting of themselves at the Flushing Invitational Saturday, April 29.
However, Brandon, and every other team, was unable to overcome the host Raiders, who won six of eight flights on their way to winning the invitational with 23 points. Midland finished second with 12 points, while Redford Thurston was third with nine, one ahead of the fourth-place Blackhawks.
The Blackhawks made it to the championship match in three different brackets. Josh Coudret lost to Flushing’s Chris Wolbert in #1 singles 6-0, 6-2; Ryan Reynolds lost to Flushing’s Carter Bundy in #4 singles 6-1, 7-5; and Garrett Warrilow and Andy Collier lost to Flushing’s Cam Lukes and William Pougnet at #1 doubles 7-5, 2-6, 6-3.
Two days earlier, the Blackhawks defeated visiting Clio 6-2 in a Flint Metro League matchup, improving to 2-1 in the league and 4-1 overall. Brandon earned wins in three of four singles flights and three of four doubles flights.
In singles action, Coudret defeated Curtis Henderson at #1 singles 6-0, 6-2; Ryan McCabe lost to Alex Dellborg at #2 singles 6-1, 6-4; Steve Sanday defeated John Heard at #3 singles 6-3, 6-2; and Reynolds defeated Jon Brouker at #4 singles 6-0, 6-1.
On the doubles side, Warrilow and Collier defeated Drew Williams and Colin Everson at #1 doubles 6-4, 6-2; Troy Nuccio and Scott Thurman defeated Jeff Golden and Andy Medore at #2 doubles 6-3, 0-6, 6-2; Alex Burbo and Steve Pupillo lost to Arin Puckett and Matt Hemingway at #3 doubles 7-5, 6-4; and Brad Kerin and Aaron VanDis defeated Geoff Hamilton and Dave Shumaker at #4 doubles 6-4, 6-1.
On April 25, the Blackhawks defeated Lapeer East 5-3, while one day earlier, the Blackhawks defeated Davison 6-2.
