Board finally approves budget for 2007

The Orion Township Board of Trustees agreed to a budget and millage levy for 2007 at their Oct. 16 meeting, almost a month after failing to approve the budget.
Following an Oct. 11 special meeting, a few changes were made to the budget, turning a 3-4 vote on Sept. 18 into a 6-1 vote this time.
The public hearing for the budget was also held on Sept. 18.
‘Estimated Township general fund revenues for the fiscal year of 2007, including a voter-authorized millage of 0.82 mill and various miscellaneous revenues, shall total $5,794,214.00,? the resolution reads.
The millage levy reads that of the 5.4519 mills authorized under State law and approved by the electorate, 4.0330 mills is for Township purposes and the remaining 1.4189 mills is for library purposes.
