Bowlers turn Tigers into kittens

The boys and girls Varsity Bowling teams took all of the drama out of their match with rival Fenton as both teams handily defeated the overmatched Tigers 29-1.
Sophomore Heather Lafnear led the way for the girls, bowling games of 217 and 193 in her two victories. Senior Kelly Cartner 163 and 219 provided two victories, while sophomore Colleen Walters achieved her personal best when she bowled games of 194 and 156.
According to Head Coach JR Lafnear, the biggest thrill he got was watching the bowling performance of junior Alyssa Hurtado, who filled in for one of the regulars.
She went three for four in the baker matches and her game of 169 produced a point for the Wildcats.
The girls improved to 5-0 with the victory.
It was much of the same on the boys lanes.
Senior Brandon Wynkoop captured two points for the Wildcats when he bowled games of 253 and 195. Also earning two points were seniors Matt Baggett and Ross Hadden.
Seniors Corey Young, Michael Magyar and junior John Garza won single points for the Wildcats.
The boys rolled their record to 5-0 following the Tiger beat down.
The Wildcats have a tough road coming up when they bowling in the Oakland County Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 23.
They return to Flint Metro League play on Wednesday, Jan. 27 against Kearsley, whose boys and girls teams are ranked in the top ten of the state.
