Brandon boy runners defeat Lapeer West

On Wednesday, May 11, the Blackhawks defeated Lapeer West in a Flint Metro League matchup, 85-52.
Adam Hyde had a very productive day for the Blackhawks, taking first place in three individual events: the 110 meter hurdles (17.2), 300 meter hurdles (42.7), and 200 meter dash (24.0).
Kyle Worden and Phil Sache each took first in two different events. Worden won the shot put (39?7?) and the discus (131?1?), while Sache won the 1600 meter (4:53.4) and 800 meter runs (2:17.8). Jonee Harris was the other individual Brandon first-place finisher, winning the 100 meter dash (11.5).
The Blackhawks also captured two relays. The 3200 meter relay team of Brad Lawrence, Chris Holton, Sache, and Steve Sanday won in 9:15, while the 1600 meter relay team of Hyde, Brendon Moquin, Jason Ledgerwood and Sache won in 3:47.2.
Brandon competitors taking second places were Stewart Olney in the long jump, Antoine Carpenter in the shot put, Mike Via in the discus, Ledgerwood in the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles, Moquin in the 400 meter dash, and Holton in the 3200 meter run.
Third place finishers were: Mitch Walker in the shot put, Ledgerwood in the high jump, Kevin Gibson in the pole vault, Nick Mackie in the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles, Jawan Simpson in the 100 meter dash, Lawrence in the 1600 meter run, and Sanday in the 3200 meter run.
