Students at Clear Lake learned the basics of doodling cartoons at a cartoon workshop held at the school last Thursday.
Cartoonist Neal Levin, from Bloomfield Hills, showed the group of 53 kids from kindergarten to fifth grade how to use basic shapes when drawing cartoons.
Whether it was drawing a funny alien, fish or an original creation, the students had a blast bringing out their inner Charles M. Schulz.
‘One of the great things about cartooning is that you can do it anywhere,? Levin said. ‘All you need are paper and pencil.?
Levin has traveled to many school districts teaching the basics of cartooning, instructing over 80,000 students. He also writes children’s poems and stories that have been published in national children’s magazines and books.
