Celebrating Fire Prevention Week 2007

Orion Township Fire Prevention Week 2007 kicked off last weekend with the annual fire truck display on Sunday, Oct. 7.
The display, held from 1-4 p.m. behind Township Hall, featured fire trucks from Orion, Oxford and Auburn Hills. Representatives from Oakland County Sheriff’s Department and Star EMS Paramedics rounded out the event.
Among other things, attendees were able to see demonstrations with fire extinguishers, smoke detectors and fire gear, as well as see the Jaws of Life being used on a vehicle and what happens when hazard materials are presented and need to be collected.
The Ladies Auxiliary of the Firefighters Association provided refreshments during the warm, sunny event.
While the fire truck display kicked off the week, the end of Fire Prevention Week 2007 will feature fire station open houses at all four of Orion’s stations on Sunday, Oct. 14.
Along with the stations being open, there will also be working fire trucks, rescue displays, free refreshments and gifts for children in attendance. Movies, brochures and activity books on fire prevention and fire safety will also be available.
Station #1 (93 S. Anderson, next to Children’s Park), Station #2 (200 E. Silverbell, east of M-24), Station #3 (3365 Gregory, west of Baldwin) and Station #4 (465 S. Baldwin, north of Clarkston Road) will be open from 1-4 p.m. for the event.
