Clarkston Equestrians named district champs

The Clarkston Junior Equestrian Team finished as district champions at the Shiawassee County Fairgrounds, June 14-16.
The Wolves are a Michigan Interscholastic Horsemanship Association Division D team competing against teams from Perry and Owosso in District 11. They finished the district meet with a combined total of 215 points to claim the District 11, D Division Grand Champion 2024.
The riders compete in Showmanship, Western, Hunt Seat, Saddle Seat, and Gymkhana events earning points based on their placings.
Each rider had the opportunity to compete in classes they don’t typically ride in normally and did a great job bringing the title back to Clarkston for the junior team two years in a row.
The Clarkston Junior Equestrian Team consists of fifth grader Paige Ashley and eighth grader Avery Evans. The team is coached by head coach Abigail Davis and assistant coach Mandy Mollette. – W.R.P.
