The Clarkston Rotary Club celebrated the year ending on June 30 and the new Rotary year beginning July 1 at their annual President’s Night, June 27.
Initiatives by new President Dave Boersma include weekly updates on the club website and social media, two speakers a month, monthly service projects, and monthly club recognition.
“One Rotarian will be selected as Rotarian of the Month and recognized for his or her activities, both in and out of the club,” Boersma said.
Fundraisers will include fall and spring wine tastings, Rotary “Good Fellows” newspaper sale in December, Concerts in the Park, Dinner for Donations and the Taste of Clarkson Beer and Wine Tent.
“These events will allow us to continue our Shoes for Kids program, SCAMP picnic, Rotary Youth Exchange sponsorship, RYLA sponsorship, and Shelter Box, to name a few,” the new president said.
The Veterans Treatment Court is his Presidential Project, and he will be working with the Friends of the North Oakland County Veterans Treatment Court.
The friends group includes veterans and volunteers assisting the Veterans Treatment Court in helping struggling veterans assimilate back into civilian life by removing obstacles that are preventing the veteran from focusing on a healthy life style.
Clarkston Rotary Club officers also include Vice President John Ransom, Treasurer Jeff Lichty, Secretary Al Avery, and Jeff Reddy, Janet Thomas, Jim Moreen, and Chad Blackstone.
