Classic cars to parade through Orion, estate

Love the look of classic, elegant cars? Well sit down and buckle up.
The Fourth Annual Meadow Brook Concours Motoring Tour is hitting the streets Friday, Aug. 1, and Lake Orion is one of its destinations.
The tour features over 40 international classic automobiles, which will travel as a motorcade led by Oakland County Sheriff, departing from Meadow Brook at 9:30 a.m. and traveling to W.E. Scripps Estate.
But, before their arrival at the mansion, they will be making a detour through historic downtown Lake Orion, according to Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Director Lois Golden.
Although participation is the Concours is private, Golden encourages the public to visit downtown that morning to watch as the motorcade drives through.
‘It will be a great opportunity to see some world-class cars,? she said for those that want to come out and view the Ferraris, Bentleys, Roll Royces, Maseratis and Lamborghinis (and more) as they drive through town.
‘We invite anyone who’s proud of their vehicle to bring it out,? Golden added, noting downtown can hold its own ‘informal, classic car day.?
Golden thanked Scripps Estate Executive Director/Curator Leslie Pielack for getting downtown involved in the motoring tour, noting it’s a great way to highlight the rich history of Lake Orion.

After spending the morning at the Scripps Estate for a private reception and tour of the house and gardens, the motorcade will depart around 12:15 p.m. to head for Rochester’s Royal Park Hotel.
The Concours is being held in support of the Friends of the William E. Scripps Estate, an organization that’s mission is to preserve and restore the historic estate.
