County van rear-ends minivan, sends two to hospital

A two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon sent two Oxford residents to the hospital with complaints of neck pain. The crash occurred at the intersection of M-24 and Dennison/Stanton streets when a 1998 Plymouth Voyager minivan was rear-ended by a 2000 GMC van from Oakland County Children’s Village. The Plymouth Voyager was stopped in the left-lane of southbound M-24, waiting to turn left onto Stanton St., when it was hit. The minivan’s driver, a 40-year-old Oxford man, and his passenger, a 45-year-old Oxford woman, were transported to POH Medical Center in Pontiac. The driver of the county van, a 29-year-old Grand Blanc man, was cited by village police for failing to stop in within an assured clear distance. Neither the van’s driver nor his seven passengers reported any injuries.
