Daniel Pasternak, 40, didn’t have a good time on Valentine’s Day. He was arrested by Lake Orion Police officers and charged with two counts of felonious assault at his arraignment on Feb. 16.
The alleged assaults took place at a residence on West Flint after a 911 call to dispatch around 12:30 a.m.
According to LO Police Chief Jerry Narsh, Pasternak was a roommate of a man and woman. He allegedly first physically assaulted the two other occupants.
As the incident escalated, Pasternak grabbed a four foot sword that was hanging on the wall as a decoration.
At first, Narsh said, Pasternak allegedly hit his victims while the sword was in its sheath. He then removed the sword’s covering and threatened them with the exposed blade.
After his arrest, Pasternak was lodged in the Oakland County Jail on a $10,000 or 10 percent cash surety bond. His preliminary exam is set for March Pasternak could earn up to four years in prison and/or a $2,000 fine for each felony charge.
Narsh said alcohol was involved in the incident.
‘Domestic violence is ever present in our society. When alcohol and/or drugs are introduced into an argument it can become a physical altercation,? he added.
‘Unfortunately when good judgement is impaired, sometimes a weapon becomes involved. We’re thankful no one was actually stabbed. This is a lethal weapon.
‘Additionally, this is the kind of thing officers fear when responding to this kind of call. It’s a reminder of everyday risks officers face in any community.?
