An 11-day layoff wasn’t enough to stop Lake Orion’s bats from catching fire during a win last Friday over Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (11-1) and a doubleheader sweep of Fraser (13-2 and 10-1).
Against St. Mary’s, Chris Lum hit a three-run home run in the third inning and Connor Mielock added a grand slam an inning later.
Josh Deeg pitched four innings to get the victory, while Mike Musary tossed three shutout innings.
The game, played at Orchard Lake, was a late addition to the schedule, since both teams had other games cancelled or postponed in the prior few days.
Mielock and Matt Thomas were the winning pitchers in LO’s sweep of host Fraser on Saturday. Mielock struck out 11 in his five innings of work.
The bats were led by Nick Dunstan’s 4-for-4 performance, which included a home run, in the first game.
Lum and Brandon Riggsbee joined Dunstan with a pair of RBIs in the win.
Ross Tonyan, Joe Barnes and Mielock all had multiple hits in game two.
The Dragons improved to 4-1 on the season, with a big league game at Farmington scheduled for today.
