A committee from the township met last Friday to discuss the dispatch agreement for the Fire Department.
After that meeting, an agreement was forwarded to the village, where the item was placed in executive session on Monday and subsequent action was taken before the meeting adjourned.
Township Supervisor Jerry Dywasuk said an agreement could be finalized by both sides by the end of the month and Village Manager JoAnn Van Tassel agreed.
‘I think we’re really close,? she said after the council directed their attorney to make ‘minor? changes and send the agreement back to the township.
Van Tassel said those changes were for ‘clarification purposes,? and the agreement will be in the township’s hands prior to their July 16 meeting.
‘It’s unfortunate that it’s taken this long,? Dywasuk said of the time it’s taken to finalize the agreement. ‘Dispatch is a really critical function and we want to all be on the same page.?
The township board discussed the item during executive session after last week’s regular meeting, though not all were pleased by its placement in the non-public part of the meeting.
‘I believe that all of that stuff should be discussed in public,? Trustee Matt Gibb said before their executive session. ‘All the good folks who watch and come deserve to know what the heck is going on.?
