The Lake Orion Board of Education okayed a new elementary hire last month, the first elementary new hire in a couple of years.
According to Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Ken Gutman, the district is no longer operating on a layoff list for certified staff.
He said that the teachers on the list have either been rehired back into the district or have found positions elsewhere.
‘We’re sorry to have lost them,? Gutman said of the teachers that took positions in other places.
He added that while the district is sorry to have lost these individuals as they were all good teachers, they are happy for them that they found positions in other districts.
The new hire will work as a kindergarten teacher at Blanche Sims half the time and Webber the other half.
