Becky Goodman, who has been the Village of Lake Orion’s downtown coordinator for the past three years, has submitted her resignation to village officials.
She has accepted a similar position in Petosky. She said she will have more responsibility, more authority and more staff than she currently has in the village.
‘It was an offer I couldn’t turn down. There’s no other place I would go to,? she said. ‘I didn’t plan on it. I always thought I would be here forever.?
Goodman, who currently lives in the village, has been an area resident for 15 years.
She doesn’t plan on leaving her job until the end of January.
Goodman was the key component in Lake Orion becoming accepted into Oakland County’s Main Street program.
Before being picked as the village’s first downtown coordinator, she was a member of the village council. During her three years as the village’s downtown coordinator, she attracted many new businesses to the downtown area and was responsible for successful activities such as the downtown Halloween Parade, the Flower Fair and the New Year’s Resolution Run.
