Dragons qualify a slew of runners for state meet

The Lake Orion boys took second, while the girls placed ninth last Friday at the regional meet held at Clarkston.
Both teams had a few state meet qualifiers. Automatic berths are given to the top two individuals or teams in each event, or they can qualify based on predetermined qualifying times.
For the girls, Chira Allen’s time of 15.41 in the 100m hurdles placed her third, but was within the state qualifying time.
Allie Hock qualified on the basis of her time in the 3200m run and also will compete with her second place 3200m relay squad. She anchores the team, which also features Hillary Reilly, Sydney Gutierrez and Melanie Lamerato.
For the boys, Kyle Johns tied for second in the pole vault, with a jump of 13 feet, 1.25 inches.
Ryan Ziolko took first in the 1600m run (4:30.01) and led a sweep of the 3200m run as well, which included Doug Mack and Max Hock (a feat they also accomplished at leagues). Ziolko and Mack will compete at states in that event.
