Equestrian team heading to state finals

Can anything slow down the Oxford High School Equestrian team?
This past weekend the Wildcats dominated the competition at the regionals, defeating Milford, Manchester and Yale to win the regional championship and advance to the state finals.
‘They were terrific,? said Equestrian Coach Dee Shepard.
Held at the Shiawassee County Fairgrounds, the Wildcats won 13 of 17 events, finishing with 729 points. Milford finished in second place with 565 points. Manchester was third with 401 and Yale was fourth with 151 points.
‘Our riders remained completely focused and motivated throughout the weekend,? Shepard said. ‘We had a lot of support from former team members who spent their weekend with us practicing and encouraging the riders to compete at their very best.
The state finals will be held at the Midland Fairgrounds Oct. 14 through 17. The Wildcats are looking to improve on a fourth place finish last year in the state finals.
