Swimmers keep achieving their goal of improving each time they compete.
“We have a young team as far as experience,” said Clarkston Boys Swim and Dive Head Coach Amber Miller. “Each meet we are looking at them to drop time and improve. It’s what they are doing consistently throughout meets.”
The Wolves came back from holiday break with a 88-82 win over West Bloomfield, Jan. 11.
“We had an amazing meet,” Miller said. “Oxford was our last opponent before break and we really had some time to really dive deep into technique. They came back from break and dropped huge amounts of time. It looked like a different team. It was exciting to see.”
Scoring points for Clarkston for the relay events were: 200-yard medley relay with William York, Owen Brown, Luke Bartley and Jarod Rutenber finished in first place, 1:54.40; and the team of Sam Gipe, Bill Osmun, Lamont Williams, Carter Kochanski, third place, 2:05.70. For 400-yard freestyle relay, York, Williams, Valen Kurmaniak, Cody Taylor, second place, 3:48.12. For the 200-yard freestyle relay, Taylor, Kochanski, Bartley, Rutenber, second place, 1:41.83; and Kurmaniak, Charley Osmun, Bill Osmun, Max Atterberry, third place, 1:52.92.

Justin Hallet finished in first place for 1-meter diving with 230.55 points. Ronan McLaughlin finished in fourth place, 136.35; and Kevin Hardtke, fifth place, 131.70.
“Justin is doing amazing on diving, reaching his personal best every meet,” Miller added.
The Wolves hosted Rochester and lost 119-67, Jan. 16.
Scoring points for the relay events: 200-yard freestyle relay with Rutenber, Kurmaniak, Bartley, Taylor, first place 1:39.15; 400-yard freestyle relay, Kurmaniak, York, Taylor, Kochanski, second place, 3:53.78; and 200-yard medley relay, York, Brown, Bartley and Rutenber finished in third place, 1:04.04.

For 1-meter diving, Hallet finished in first place with 248 points. McLaughlin finished in fourth place, 127.10, and Hardtke, fifth place, 120.75 points.
Clarkston hosted their final home meet of the season and celebrated their six seniors during their 116-70 loss to North Farmington last Thursday.
Scoring points for Clarkston for relay events were: 200-yard freestyle relay with Rutenber, Kurmaniak, Bartley, Taylor, first place, 1:36.99; 200-yard medley relay, York, Brown, Bartley, Rutenber finished in second place, 1:54.66; and 400-yard freestyle relay, Kurmaniak, York, Taylor, Williams, second place, 3:34.26.

For 1-meter diving, Hallet finished first with 229.85 points. Hardtke finished in fourth place with 119.50 points and McLaughlin finished in fifth place with 105. 75 points.
“They did what they needed to to – come out, race and put in their best swim,” Miller said.
The Wolves head to Lake Orion this Thursday, 6 p.m. Then, they are off to the Oakland County meet, Feb. 1-3, before heading to Berkley on Feb. 8.
