Fall tournaments and practices and games for winter sports continue to be on hold after the pause in activities due to COVID is extended to Dec. 20.
“We realize the crisis our medical caregivers and first responders are navigating and understand the need to continue the pause,” said Mark Uyl, executive director of the Michigan High School Athletic Association. “However, the MHSAA had provided a detailed plan to both Governor Whitmer and MDHHS that would have completed fall tournaments with no spectators as safely as possible during the month of December along with allowing winter sport practices to resume. While we are disappointed in (the Dec. 7) announcement, we will continue to look forward as we remain committed to play three sports seasons to their conclusion.”
The Representative Council will meet this Wednesday, Dec. 16, to discuss plans for when school sports will be allowed to resume activity.
The volleyball team and divers from Clarkston High School currently await plans for their fall tournaments to continue while the Clarkston Everest Collegiate Football team waits to play its regional game.
