Fundraiser for family of late BHS grad

On July 10, the community can help a Brandon graduate’s family, bereaved by her sudden death.
Tracie Anne (Austin) Vargas, a 1990 BHS graduate, died June 12 at the age of 41. Surviving are her husband, William, and five children, Victoria, Tevin, and triplets, Evelyn, Dezi, and Grace, 4-years-old; as well as her parents, Dan and Kathy Austin, Barbra and Austin Craig and siblings Mark (Kate) Austin and Shannon Austin and two nephews.
On July 10, 20 percent of all sales at A&W Restaurant, 470 South St., Ortonville, will be donated to the family. Donations can also be made to the family in care of Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Service, 4291 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.
Salute to America
On July 3, a bus will leave the Edna Burton Center, 345 Ball St., for a Salute to America at Greenfield Village. Cost is $25 for adults and $17 for kids 12 and under. Bus leaves center at 5 p.m. and returns around midnight. Music by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and fireworks. Reservations call the center at 248-627-6447 or Faye at 248-627-6041.
Goodrich Library
At 1 p.m., June 30, the Goodrich Library, 10237 Hegel Road will host Martina Hahn ? Speed Painter. Animals, the human body, outer space, and underwater themes are all a part of the mystery and discovery behind the Magic School Bus books and TV series. Speed painter Martina Hahn will engage listeners storytelling and painting a very large canvas picture in six minutes. Register at
