Golfers win academic, athletic honors

Some high honors were bestowed upon the members of the Varsity Girls Golf Team.
Seniors Taylor Holtshouser and Anna Tomaka, along with Sophomore Hannah Beebe were honorable mentions for the Flint Metro League All-Conference team.
In addition to Haltshouser and Tomaka being named honorable mentions, they were also part of five Wildcats who made the all state academic team. Seniors Susan Reynolds, Sara Decker and Kate Wolanin joined the girls on the all-state team.
When the grade point averages of the five girls were averaged out, the girls had the highest average of all the teams that entered the tournament. ‘We’re pretty proud of them,? said Coach Terry Kelley.
The academic honors continued as Reynolds was named to the all-state individual academic team with Holtshouser being an honorable mention.
‘I was proud of the job that the girls did all season. They improved athletically and maintained their high standards for academics. It’s really an award that should go to the girls themselves, the parents who keep them motivated and the teachers who make the classwork interesting enough to keep the kids involved and motivated.?
For his efforts, Kelley was named Regional Coach of the Year. ‘It’s an honor when your fellow coaches think you’ve done a good job.?
