Goodrich competitive cheer ends season

The Goodrich Varsity Competitive Cheer team ended the season with a sixth place finish in regional competition at Goodrich High School on March 1.
A total of 17 teams challenged, with the top two spots competing in the Michigan State Finals.
‘We were a little disappointed because we didn’t execute our round three like we usually do,? said Senior Jennifer Warden. ‘We had a few mistakes that we have never made before and that took us down a few places. It still was a great finish, though. Sixth out of 17 is still really good.?
In their second season as a Michigan High School Athletic Association team, the Goodrich team included 15 girls ranging from sophomores to seniors. The team’s first competition of the season was the Brighton Invitational, where the team competed against all Division Two teams, (Goodrich is in Division Three). They took fifth place out of eight teams.
At the girls? second competition of the season, the Davison Invitational, the girls improved with a third place win out of nine teams. Later, the girls took second place at the Genesee Area Conference.
‘We picked some hard competitions to go to this year so we would be competing against the best teams in the state,? says Coach Jaime Jakubowski. ‘It gives the girls an opportunity to get better and see what we need to improve on.?
