Goodrich’s varsity hockey team battled to a 2-2 tie with host Grand Blanc in a Dec. 20 game at the Perani Arena in Flint.
The Martians scored their two goals in the first 2-1/2 minutes of play. Max Hawkins scored for Goodrich 1:03 into the game on an assist from Derek Powers, then Reece Geml followed up 2:17 into the game by scoring on an assist from Tom Ferreri.
Grand Blanc scored a goal later in the first period and another in the second period to counter Goodrich’s two goals.
Brad Smith stopped 39-of-41 shots (95.1 percent) in goal for the Martians.
