Voters headed to the polls on Nov. 7 will determine a number of races in the area.
District 3 Oakland County Commissioner, 46th District State Representative, U.S. Congress Representatives for the 8th and 9th Districts and the seat for 12th District State Senate are all up for grabs.
In the race for District 3 Oakland County Commissioner, Republican Michael Gingell is up against Democrat Kate Zielinski of Rochester Hills.
Zielinski ran unopposed in the August Primary, while Gingell defeated incumbent Eric Wilson, getting over 56 percent of the vote.
In the race for 46th District State Representative, incumbent Republican Jim Marleau seeks another two-year term, challenged by Democrat Bill Pearson of Oxford.
In the race for 8th District U.S. Representative, incumbent Republican Mike Rogers seeks another two-year term against Democrat Jim Marcinkowski of Lake Orion. Also on the ballot are Dick Gach and Aaron Stuttman.
Incumbent 9th District U.S. Representative Joe Knollenberg of Bloomfield Hills, a Republican, is challenged by Democrat Nancy Skinner of Birmingham. Matthew R. Able and Adam Goodman are also on the ballot.
The race for 12th District State Senator was the only one of the bunch to be uncontested in the Primary. Republican Mike Bishop of Rochester is running for another four-year term against Democrat Joseph Barrera of Lake Orion. Brian Kelly is also on the ballot.
Orion voters will also decide on Township Proposals 1 & 2, which pertain to the bond and millage for a tri-township Older Person’s Center.
Also, 52-3 district court judge Lisa Asadoorian seeks re-election against challenger Daniel Randazzo.
Across the state, voters will elect a governor, secretary of state, attorney general and a U.S. senator. State Board of Education and State Supreme Court battles will also be decided.
For governor, incumbent Democrat Jennifer Granholm seeks re-election against Republican candidate Dick DeVos.
Incumbent Debbie Stabenow, a Democrat, faces Republican challenger Mike Bouchard in the race for U.S. Senate.
Five state-wide proposals are also on the ballot.
